winnipeg lost its major league hockey franchise, the winnipeg jets, in the mid-90's. on may 31, the nhl announced its return to winnipeg. winnipeg jets fans celebrated this return of the national hockey league by closing the main intersection downtown and playing some road hockey. welcome back jets!
